Apple Charlotte Recipe 1
Ingredients:
2 lbs apples (for cooking); pared and sliced
2 ozs almonds; chopped
4 ozs sultanas and currants (mixed)
1 stick cinnamon (approximately 3″ long)
Lemon juice (from half a lemon)
Bread and butter (Allinson); sliced thinly
Sugar (to taste)
Instructions:
Stew apples together with cinnamon as well as teacupful water ’til apples become pulpy. Take away cinnamon then add sultanas and currants, almonds, juice and sugar. Mix well then let mixture cool.
Line a buttered pie dish with the Allinson slices and top with cooked mixture. Create layers of Allinson and apples mixture, with the Allinson on top as final layer. Bake 45 minutes in medium hot oven.
